I am pleased to present Adelaide Youth Orchestra’s 2010 Concert Season, with our three orchestras: Adelaide Youth Orchestra, Adelaide Youth Sinfonia and Adelaide Youth Strings, featuring 180 of South Australia’s leading young musicians.

Each year allows us the opportunity to share the joy of musical discovery with our musicians and audiences. 2010 in particular marks a new stage in the organisation’s development, which builds upon our very successful Adelaide concerts along with our regional and outer metropolitan touring programs.

While our students are discovering the complexities and wonders of orchestral music with expert tutorial help from professional musicians from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the Elder Conservatorium of Music, they will be working towards presenting over ten concerts in and around Adelaide.

In 2010, Adelaide Youth Orchestra continues our popular Maestro Series with three concerts presented by the, where they will perform Tchaikovsky’s lyrical 5th Symphony; Dvořák’s rustic 8th Symphony and give a rare performance of Poulenc’s pastoral piano concerto, Concerto Champêtre with leading Scottish pianist, Roy Howat.

I hope you’ll be able to join us in this journey of discovery.
