Bringing our youth orchestra into school environments is an inspirational means for creating a love of music in all children. Feedback from students and teachers demonstrates that our school visits and curriculum resources provide students with valuable learning and music discovery opportunities. Many students who are learning instruments say that our visits encourage them to practise harder and to aspire to pursue their dreams.
Each year AdYO visits schools selected in consultation with the Department for Education and Child Development, with the aim to add value to each school’s existing classroom and instrumental programs. As part of each school visit there are classroom activities, participation as part of the concert and teachers are provided with resources to continue the music-making.
Adelaide Youth Orchestras is the only state youth orchestra with a formal schools program, made possible with the support of the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation and the South Australian Government’s Department for Education and Child Development.
