Philip Paine

Philip PainePhilip Paine is a principal horn player with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.  He has been a full time member of the orchestra since 1992.

Philip holds a Master’s degree in Music, from the University of Adelaide, following a Bachelor of Music from the University of Tasmania.

Prior to moving to Adelaide Philip was a principal horn player with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra in Sydney.  He has also performed with most of Australia’s professional orchestras and has appeared regularly as a guest principal with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra over the last five years.

Philip is an experienced teacher and is a horn tutor at the University of Adelaide. He has also tutored for the Australian Youth Orchestra, a job made all the easier having taught many of these young horn players.

Currently, Philip is also the conductor of the Hahndorf Town Band, a brass band based near his home in the Adelaide Hills.
