Each year 200 musicians have the opportunity to be part of one of the Adelaide Youth Orchestras’ ensembles, working with the most talented young South Australians in an exciting and challenging environment. This is made possible thanks to the generous support of people like you.
As well as attending weekly rehearsals led by members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the Elder Conservatorium, our young musicians receive individual and group tuition from prominent members of Adelaide’s musical community. While only some will go on to become professional musicians, all will gain lifelong benefits from the experience of being part of Adelaide Youth Orchestras.
To supplement our three orchestras, we have formed a new string quartet that has performed at major public events and our new AdYO Percussion Ensemble gave a dazzling performance of Christopher Rouse’s Ku-Ka-Ilimoku at our Folk Beauties concert. Last year a massive 30,000 people experienced a performance by one of our wonderful orchestras or ensembles.
Buoyed by our many artistic achievements, this year we are programming concerts with leading Australian and international soloists and are commissioning new works from some of Australia’s finest emerging composers.
We would be greatly appreciative if you were able to help us by making a donation.
