AdYO Sponsor Profile: Fisher Jeffries

Nicholas Linke Nicholas Linke, Staff Partner, Fisher Jeffries

In mid-2008, leading SA commercial law-firm, Fisher Jeffries joined The Adelaide Youth Orchestras as its inaugural legal partner, at the point in time, neither knew each other all that well, but since then, it has become a very dynamic and mutually respectful and beneficial partnership.

To achieve such a strong partnership it has been about both organisations having the right people to work with. Fisher Jeffries’ Staff Partner, Nicholas Linke from day one could see AdYO had great potential and it was an organisation that was going to provide his colleagues with some interesting work and opportunities. AdYO was also a great fit with the firm’s other arts sponsorship, in particular the Helpmann Academy.

Meanwhile AdYO was fortunate to have a General Manager who had elsewhere witnessed the benefits of innovative partnerships between corporates and not-for-profits, where with respect and mutual professionalism, it allows both parties to gain new and invaluable perspectives.

AdYO’s General Manager, Christopher Wainwright says, “over the last four years, Fisher Jeffries has played an integral role in our growing professionalism. The knowledge and up-to-the-minute expertise in areas including intellectual property, employment law and not-for-profit governance has made it possible for us to be a highly progressive and effective youth arts company.”

When not being asked to review a contract, to provide advice or attend to other legal matters, Fisher Jeffries’ employees also do actively engage with the organisation through attending concerts, fundraisers and rehearsals.

“Attending the concerts where we see some of SA’s finest young musicians benefiting from the work we do for AdYO makes the hard, but enjoyable work we do all the more worthwhile,” says Nicholas Linke, Staff Partner of Fisher Jeffries.

When Nicholas isn’t assisting AdYO he is actively involved in the SA arts community through his service as an Australian Business Arts Foundation Councillor and as a Board Member with Restless Dance Theatre and SA Living Artists Festival.

As AdYO starts looking towards its 20th anniversary, some nine years away, we hope that Fisher Jeffries will continue to be part of our success. “Fisher Jeffries is so genuinely engaged and passionate about what AdYO does, it makes dealing with their staff a real pleasure. Never does it feel like, that Fisher Jeffries is merely just doing us a favour,” remarked Chris.
