Adelaide based composer Jakub Jankowski holds a Bachelor of music with Honours in composition from the Elder Conservatorium. He began his musical education on the classical guitar before moving on to the cello as a teenager.
Jakub's music has been performed at a number of festivals and concert series including the Adelaide International Cello Festival (2014), the Elder Lunch-hour and Evening Concert Series (2015) and the London International Mime Festival (2016).
In 2014 he was the recipient of the Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia’s Composition Award, and in 2016 Jakub was commissioned by Musica Viva Australia to compose a String Octet for the Elias and Goldner Quartets, which concluded the final concert of the 2017 Musica Viva Festival.
Jakub has recently completed, to great acclaim, a new cello sonata for German/French cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and Serbian pianist Aleksandar Madžar, as part of their Australia wide Musica Viva tour in September 2017.
