Message from the Board of Adelaide Youth Orchestras
Wednesday 18 March 2020
Dear Members and Supporters,
It’s a challenging time for the entire community, and like so many other organisations, Adelaide Youth Orchestras (AdYO) is working through the implications of COVID-19.
Our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of our musicians, their families, our audiences, staff and contractors.
The government ban on indoor gatherings of 100 people or more, and the recommendation for maintaining ‘social distancing’, will inevitably have an impact on our rehearsals and concerts.
In light of growing concern, the board has reached the difficult, but responsible, decision to suspend all AdYO activities until the week commencing 27 April.
As the situation is constantly evolving, we will continue to be guided by government advice and we thank you for your commitment, understanding and cooperation as we play our part in controlling the spread of COVID-19.
For those of you who have purchased tickets for the concerts at Brighton on Sunday 22 March, Thebarton on Sunday 29 March and Maestro 1 at Elder Hall on Sunday 5 April we can offer you a refund or a credit towards a future concert. You may also wish to convert your concert ticket to a tax-deductible donation to AdYO, for which we would be most grateful.
While this will have a significant impact on AdYO, and the livelihood of our professional contractors, we are confident that we will get through this together.
We look forward to welcoming you back to AdYO soon.
