COVID-19 Update

Message from the Board of Adelaide Youth Orchestras
Thursday 9 April 2020

Dear Members and Supporters,

There have been a number of developments over the last few weeks as we come to terms with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of everyone at Adelaide Youth Orchestras, we thank you for your understanding and support as we work through a number of issues facing our organisation.

We’ll be working as hard as we can over the next few months to steer AdYO through this period so we can return to playing music together as soon as practicable.

Our committment is to protect the long-term viability of AdYO and your support as stewards of our orchestras will keep us together. We’ll be providing regular updates as we navigate whatever the coming weeks and months may hold.

At our Special Board meeting this week, we have decided to cancel rehearsals for Term 2 and, sadly, also cancel the concerts we had planned for June: Maestro 2 at Elder Hall and; In the Round at Concordia. For those of you who have purchased tickets for the concerts we can offer you a refund or You may wish to convert your concert ticket to a tax-deductible donation to AdYO, for which we would be most grateful.

Hopefully, we can recommence rehearsals from July 20, and find ways to catch up on those missed performances. However, we will be guided by Government advice about when it is safe to do so.

In the meantime, our very creative team has some exciting ideas for staying in touch and keeping the music playing, even while we’re all stuck at home. Watch out for invitations to join online tutorials and musical activities over the next few weeks.

Once again, thank you for your support through this challenging time. Your passion for music, your commitment to AdYO, and your ongoing support have been uplifting.

We look forward to, once again, being able to share with you the wonder of playing music together.

Warm regards,

Catherine Baldwin
