Lynda Latu is in her first year studying a Bachelor of Music Advanced (Classical Performance) at the Elder Conservatorium. Under the tutelage of Elizabeth Layton, she currently performs in the Elder Conservatorium Symphony and Chamber orchestras, is in her second year as concertmaster of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra and is also first violinist of its associated String Quartet.
Born into a musical family, Lynda initially began taking violin lessons at the age of 4 from her grandmother, Jill Folauhola and later studied with Keith Crellin. In 2018 Lynda graduated from Marryatville High School where she thrived in the Special Interest Music Program. Lynda was awarded the Australian String Teachers Association Award for the most outstanding string player 18 years and under at the Adelaide Eisteddfod in 2017, she placed in equal second place at the Recitals Australia Spring Recital Finals Series in 2018 and was the recipient of the Gladys Lloyd Thomas Prize for Violin at the Elder Conservatorium in 2019. Lynda has been involved in various Australian Youth Orchestra Programs and recently travelled to Melbourne in April to play in Young Symphonists where she was principal second violinist.
A very keen orchestral and chamber musician, Lynda hopes to one day make these two things a career; to play professionally in a chamber group, or to become an orchestral musician.
