Tommy Ng Ching Ho
Tommy Ng Ching Ho, a Hong Kong native, started his musical journey at an early age under the guidance of his mother and Mr. Wong Wai-ming, former concertmaster of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Tommy attained Grade 8 (ABRSM) for violin, viola and piano at age 12 and Licentiate Diploma (Trinity College London) for viola performance at age 15. He has been a student of Keith Crellin OAM after moving to Adelaide in 2015. He is now in the second year of his Bachelor of Music (Advanced) degree at the Elder Conservatorium.
An active orchestral and chamber musician, Tommy has been the Principal Viola of the Adelaide Youth Orchestra and a member of the AdYO string quartets (since 2016), Co-principal Viola of the Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, the Elder Conservatorium Chamber Orchestra and the Burnside Symphony Orchestra, as well as a violist and violinist in various ensembles at the Elder Conservatorium, including piano trios, harp trio, string quartets, string quintet and piano quintet.
Tommy was the winner of the Adelaide Eisteddfod Concerto (2017) and a recipient of the Recital Australia Lunch Hour Awards (2018) and the Eugene Alderman Prize at the Elder Conservatorium (2019). He is excited to make his concerto debut with the AdYO and aspires to a musical career as a soloist, a conductor and a professional orchestral and chamber musician.
