Teresa La Rocca
Teresa La Rocca completed a drama and music degree at Adelaide University.
She was a finalist in the ABC’s Young Performers’ Award and went on to win the State Opera Aria, the Herald-Sun Aria and the Metropolitan Opera Awards.
Her roles for State Opera of South Australia (SOSA) include: Norina/Don Pasquale, Parasha in Stravinsky’sMavra, Yum Yum/The Mikado, Despina/Così fan tutte, Liù/Turandot , Susanna/Le Nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira/Don Giovanni and Lisa/La Sonnambula. She performed the soprano roles in Verdi’s Requiem and in Flamma Flamma for the Adelaide Festival.
For Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Teresa performed in Symphony Under the Stars, A Viennese Gala, Handel’sMessiah and Vaughan Williams’ Symphony Antarctica.
Teresa debuted with Opera Australia performing Queen of Night and her further roles with the national company include: Susanna/Le Nozze di Figaro, The Milliner and Marianne/Der Rosenkavalier, Rosina/The Barber of Seville, the title role/ Manon Lescaut, Berta/The Barber of Seville, Donna Elvira/Don Giovanni; for OzOpera, she toured nationally as Musetta/La bohème and Micaela/Carmen.
Teresa has appeared with the Sydney Symphony in theirAmore series of concerts, Symphony in the Domain, starred in Viva Vivaldi for Vision Events Perth, performed the title role in Bel Canto’s Lucia di Lammermoor, sang major roles for Co-Opera and has been a frequent guest soloist with Sydney Philharmonia, the Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin and Willoughby Symphony Orchestras and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Teresa recorded the Sempre libera and Confide in me soundtrack for The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert the Musical. Teresa has been the Musical Director of the Italian Choral & Arts Society for the last 5 years.
Latest performances include: Soloist in the Puccini and Verdi Spectaculars for SOSA to great acclaim; Sharon in Terence McNally’s Masterclass; Young Woman/Congregation Member and Reporter in Pecan Summer(Adelaide) and Rosa in Innocence workshops and performances for SINGular Productions/SOSA.
Teresa joined the Principal cast for the Australian International Opera Company and has toured China, singing Susanna, Violetta, Micaela and appearing with the WASO Chorus and Adelaide Harmony Choir.
