Tianyou Ma was born in 2000 in ShenZhen China. He has been studying with PingXing Li form the age of 3 until 7 in TianJing, where his grandma can take care of him. By the time he was 7 him and his grandma had all moved back to ShenZhen. In ShenZhen, SongYang Li was his next teacher until the age of 9, where Tianyou and his mum moved to Adelaide, Australia. Tianyou has been a single study student at the Elder Conservatoire of Music since 2010, where he was awarded a full scholarship from the “Talented Young Musician” scheme to study with Keith Crellin from 2010-2013. Since 2014, Tianyou was awarded a full scholarship from the Music and Dance Scheme at The Yehudi Menuhin School and study violin with Diana Galvydyte. He will be starting his undergraduate study with a full scholarship at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in August 2019.
Tianyou Ma has won prizes in numerous international competitions, including 2nd prize in Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, 1st prize in Eisteddfod String Competition in Australia, gold medal in the Manhattan International Music Competition, 1st prize in the International Summer Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and 4th prize and the special Bach prize in the International Menuhin Violin Competition in Geneva. His music playing has been recorded and published on online Strad Magazine, BBC 3 Radio in the U.K, and OE1 radio in Vienna. Tianyou has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Webern Kammerphilharmonie in Vienna, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), Doctors' Orchestra, Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and Adelaide Youth Orchestra in Adelaide. Tianyou has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in many countries including England, Australia, Austria, the USA, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, China and Germany.
