2022 Auditions

Dates: Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st, Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th of November
Location: University of Adelaide

APPLICATIONS CLOSE SUNDAY 31 OCTOBER

Celebrating 21 years in 2022, Adelaide Youth Orchestras provides world class development programs and career pathways for South Australia’s brightest young musicians. With players as young as eight presenting an exhilarating program of concerts for diverse audiences across the state, Adelaide Youth Orchestras delivers professional orchestral training in an inclusive and creative environment and is essential to Adelaide’s role as a UNESCO City of Music. Through music we aim to foster life skills including leadership, discipline, collaboration and fun. When our young musicians experience the intensity and delight of performing orchestral music together, their lives change forever.

Young musicians are selected annually through audition for our five orchestras: Adelaide Youth Orchestra, Adelaide Youth Wind Orchestra, Adelaide Youth Sinfonia, Adelaide Youth Strings and Adelaide Youth Winds. In conjunction with these students may also apply to join Adelaide Youth Orchestra’s String Quartets, Wind or Brass Quintets.

In addition, in 2022 percussionists will no longer be applying for individual orchestras and will be instead joining the Adelaide Youth Percussion Ensemble. They will get more opportunities to play with Adelaide Youth Orchestra’s various ensembles as well as have masterclasses from some of Adelaide’s finest percussionists.
